Soooo, I'm 36 weeks pregnant, and was having HORRIBLE indigestion and took the adult dose of Pepto Bismol Ultra (2 pills- 525 mg each).
I didn't know until after the fact that it's not recommended to take during pregnancy . I called the emergency line and my doctor said not to worry, but I feel so so guilty.
I can't untake it, but wondering for further peace of mind if anyone else has taken it this late in the game and baby was okay??? Or if there's any thing I should be looking out for?

As long as you didn’t take it everyday or make it to habit to use any medication not recommended for pregnancy, it is very very unlikely for your baby to be affected , it takes lots of long term use for any effects to negatively impact your baby! I was taking an anti nausea medication in my first trimester with this baby only to find out it’s not supposed to be taken during pregnancy, my baby is fine!

@maklew22,
thanks for your reply! I worry about it since I took it later in pregnancy and I'm close to delivery :(

@Tumlins,
no noooo , if anything they say first trimester is most detrimental, because that’s the first 12 weeks of development, try to relax it’s okay , don’t scare yourself into anxiety regarding the meds! The last thing you want to do is cause yourself to panic and start overthinking , it’s okay girl , make baby move , lay down , drink some water , as long as baby is moving around baby is fine! That one dose and little bit really should not affect anything at all

@Tumlins,
I think first trimester would be worse! As pp said your baby is okay! It takes a lot of use to have any adverse effect

I took a some very early in the first trimester before I realized I shouldn’t take it. I drank more water to help move it through my system faster

Iv taken it about 3 times the whole pregnancy! I think they just recommend not using it very often!

I would absolutely not worry, especially in the third trimester… Baby is cooked!

Thank you! They told me the risk this late in the game is it can cause a higher risk of internal bleeding, especially close to delivery, but right now my doctor is not worried and my baby girl is kicking!

I had the flu and accidentally took the normal dose of Tylenol instead of the pregnancy dose. The doctor tested my liver and assured me it was ok because it was a one time thing. And honestly, it was the only thing that kept my fever below 102. I felt very guilty thinking I put baby in danger.

@almanda06,
at one time I was maxing dose the dose of Tylenol an adult should have in a day because I broke my leg and arm. I had to have 2 surgeries. My baby is beyond healthy!

Don’t worry about it! A one off isn’t going to hurt anything. Every time I do something I feel sketchy about (like take Tylenol or eat a deli sandwich) I just think of all the moms back in the day just drinking martinis, taking quaaludes and smoking their way through pregnancy and that usually put things into perspective for me

Definitely ok! I broke my leg and arm in my second trimester and had to have 2 different surgeries. They both included some very very heavy pain medication for quite some time. I think a little pepto will be okay. I have a perfectly healthy little girl still brewing in there.
